Alps Glitter - Granite
The quarry of the mica schist Alps Glitter, also known as "Passeirer Gneiss" is in the north of Italy, in the South Tyrolean Alps. Quarrying takes place with the most modern machines and is particularly environment-friendly, with the utmost respect for Nature. The volume extracted is 500-700 m³ per year. Initially, the material was taken only from boulders in a streambed, but a quarry is producing blocks of various sizes since 2013.
The elegant mica schist contains a certain number of garnets (dark-red semi-precious stones) and, compared to similar materials from Brazil, is more compact and resistant. Due to the high quartz content, the material achieves a special depth effect and is used mainly in upscale interior design.
